Christmas with a Newborn

Christmas is the celebration of Christ’s birth, OK duh. This is a season of service and of focusing on Christ and on how to be more like him. I have recently joined the world of motherhood. I have learned many things this past month including how to pack a diaper bag, to always have a pacifier on hand, and the joy of cuddling with a newborn. As I have held my beautiful baby girl I have thought of Mary holding baby Jesus.

How could Jesus Christ have been a baby like this little girl in my arms?

My next thought was that right now my baby is perfect, even when she won’t stop crying. When I’m frustrated that's on me, she isn't doing anything wrong. I’m the one that needs to learn patience. So now when I hold my baby I think of Christ and how he remained perfect throughout his life. This Christmas season I am striving to be more Christ like. And although its a little early my New Years resolution is to find ways to serve those around me, to stop focusing so much on me that I can’t see others needs. I want to help others feel the joy that my baby girl helps me feel.

MERRY CHRISTMAS
